Registration for the free children’s group of the Academia de Casais Realeza em Movimento, a project to bring children (six years old or older) closer to Carnival traditions through the art of the mestre-sala and porta-bandeira, is open until March 25. To register, those interested must complete the online form available here or get in touch via this WhatsApp. Classes begin on March 29 in the São Francisco neighborhood, in Curitiba, with meetings every 15 days, on Sundays, starting at 15h.
Children’s participation in the Carnival tradition
The instructors will be Fernanda Blanco and Marcelo Ferreira, the 1st couple of the samba school Acadêmicos da Realeza. The pair received the maximum score in the official parade of the Special Group of the Curitiba Carnival in 2025 and 2026. The classes will present techniques and fundamentals of the segment, such as posture, respect for the flag and for the history of the associations, discipline, partner work, elegance, and body expression.
Academia de Casais Realeza em Movimento Project
The Academia de Casais Realeza em Movimento is in its second edition and is part of the samba school’s actions dedicated to preserving Carnival culture and training new mestre-sala and porta-bandeira couples.
According to the organization, opening the children’s group aims to strengthen the base, bring new generations closer to Curitiba’s Carnival tradition, and reveal new talents. In addition, the ongoing classes show that Carnival is not held only during the parade season; preparation and organizational activities continue throughout the entire year.
